How to remove acrylic craft paint from finished wood?

In a long ago abandoned project, I applied acrylic craft paint to a finished wood shelf. I never finished it and now want to remove it to just have the original wood finish. What, if anything, can I use to remove the paint without stripping the original finish?

You say that you applied the acrylic paint to a finished shelf; depending on how well the original finish was sealed, water MIGHT take the acrylic off. Acrylic paint is water based, after all, and when applied to a non-porous surface will come off with water. If you’ve ever tried painting on glass, for instance, you can easily get the paint off just by wetting it.

You might try wetting a soft cloth and letting that sit on the acrylic painted areas to soften the paint; you might then be able to scrape the paint off after waiting awhile. Use a bit of rubbing alcohol on the cloth to remove any remaining paint.

Wood, however, being more porous, might have grabbed that paint and let it sink into the pores of the wood. Which leads to it being much harder to remove. If that is the case, you could try sanding the acrylics down. This would mean that you will need to apply a coat of varnish to the original wood finish of the shelf when you get the acrylic paint removed. The only other alternative would be a paint stripper.

I want to make a pillow out of my baby’s clothes?

My husband just left for a long deployment and I want to send it it him. Can anyone guide me through it (other than people at a craft store)?

I make quilts and bears out of baby clothes. I use quilter’s rulers and a rotary cutter to get good straigfht cuts out of the clothes. The pieces can be all different shapes and sizes, as long as they all have straight edges.

After they’re cut, iron them to some nice stiff interfacing. Then start sewing them together using a quarter inch seam. Just keep sewing pieces on until you have a big piece of patchwork fabric.

After that’s done, go back through and sew down each seam allowance so the fabric won’t be lumpy. (as circled in this pic http://www.whozatvoice.com/seams.JPG )

Then just cut your pillow pieces from your new patchworked fabric.

What are some good Biblical craft ideas for 200+ children?

I am going on a missions trip overseas and planning ten art projects for an orphanage to do. I would like most of them to be related to Bible lessons. There are more than 200 kids there, and the materials cannot be too large because I will need to travel with them. Any ideas?

Maybe a Crucifix made of card or clay, which the children could decorate to their own personal taste with paint, plastic gems, beads that can be threaded onto gold coloured wire that can,in turn,be wound around the Crucifix for sculptural effect. If you use clay, the children could actually press beads, small mirrors and gemstones etc into the clay. The Crucifix could then be used to decorate a room as well as providing spiritual protection for the home…Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.

I’m really bored and I need ideas for arts and crafts?

I’m really bored, and I want to do some arts and crafts. I like to recycle things like little tin boxes or use one of those vending machine capsules to do something cool. Are there any sites that have fun arts and crafts ideas?

This article creates a seeded tray but you could use anything that the seeds will stick to. There are also seed beads instead of the editable and plant varieties.

To FOS on Capitalism and the American Doctrines that guide us?

As Accepted Many times as a Basic Understanding of America
The Federalist Papers are the Place the Drafters of the Constitution Placed Specific directions and sources for future Knowledge. The Supreme court Has Gone to them Time after time in our History. Hamilton and the Boys crafted the System and ingrained it into the System. The Constitution Was Not the Place for it so It Does not reside there.

You will find it in OUR version of the Talimud ( Jewish Book of Laws) or Church doctrine, our Tafseer (Islamic Book of laws), CALLED THE FEDERALIST PAPERS.
Hope you Understand Now
and part of the basis for the constitution NOT a replacement as the talmud is not a replacement for the Torah ( not bad for a Catholic girl huh!)

I’m sorry I was staring at your bikini.. what’s that now?

Can anyone recommend a good site to find fabric for sewing and crafting?

If not online, maybe some good magazines. I need resources. Should I Google? What would I search for?

I personally like Joann.com as they show the material the amount the colors the price and in some instances they give you a discount and on some occasions they will ship for free. Browse the site and you will see what I mean.
