Children?s Birthday Parties

Children love a party that includes their favorite character or hero. Most will choose a popular television, or movie character. These decorations and party supplies are usually easy to acquire, as the media is very happy to promote their goods.

If you want to be a little more imaginative with your party, here are some suggestions:

> Base your child’s party on a favorite book. There are many children’s books that are adventurous and fun. The children could dress up as characters in the book. You can decorate your home with a scene from the story. Children have great imaginations, so ask your birthday child for ideas to make this party great.

> Basing a party on a board game can be interesting and different. Candy Land, Clue, and Jumanji would make fun party themes. Plan and be creative.

> Your future scientist will enjoy a party full of experiments. The best part of a science class is always the cool experiments. Create your own ‘Mad’ science lab and go crazy with some safe experiments.

> Is your favorite little mystery solver having a birthday? Create a mystery party and solve clues. Your guests may need magnifying glasses to help solve the clues of a Sherlock Holmes party! They will need a treasure map to solve the mysterious clues that a pirate left behind for a Treasure Hunt party.

> A Play Dough and Craft Party can get messy, so you have to be prepared. Cheap shower curtains, plastic tablecloths or plastic tarps are great to help cover the floor, if necessary. Make up games with the play dough: Who can make the longest snake, or the best dinosaur? Cookie cutters and plastic knives are fun tools to use on your play dough designs. Simple crafts are fun to make and give your guests something to take home with them.

Fun and unique parties take planning and creativity. However, they are well worth your effort. Give your Birthday Star a party that he and his friends will remember for a long time!

Top Ten Things to Put in Children’s Easter Baskets

The Easter basket is the quintessential symbol of the religious holiday that takes place two days after Good Friday each year. Well, that and the Easter Bunny. Easter baskets, overflowing with chocolate bunnies, jelly bean-filled plastic eggs and other delightful candy treasures, remain one of the most popular children’s holiday gifts in modern day history, second only to Christmas presents and Halloween candy most likely.

According to the National Confectioners Association (NCA), a survey showed that chocolate bunnies are the most popular Easter basket item for children and adults – some 90 million are produced and sold every year. Jelly beans come in second with around 16 billion being sold annually. These are obvious choices for Easter basket filling, but what else do you include in an Easter basket to make it truly kiddo-approved and thoroughly enjoyable for the little ones?

Here’s a list of the top ten best items for a children’s Easter basket to get you started. You can pick and choose from this list – don’t feel like you have to include them all! Remember to mix it up and make it fun. And don’t forget to hide the Easter basket for the kids to find in the morning!

Jelly Belly® Jelly Beans

A staple in any Easter basket, the “original gourmet jelly beans” are second to none in flavor. Check out the website to see all the variations and flavors (including Sours, Sunkist, Cold Stone Creamery ice cream flavors, sugar-free and more), or go to your local confectioner’s store (there’s a store locator on the website) to assemble a homemade assortment of your child’s most favorite flavors.

Chocolate bunnies

Ah, another staple on any children’s Easter basket, the chocolate bunny. Whether you splurge on bunnies from See’s Candies, or other gourmet chocolatiers, or just pick some up at the local drug store, a chocolate bunny is a necessity for a kid’s Easter basket. Does your child start with the ears or the feet? According to the NCA, 76% of Americans say the ears should be eaten first!

Personalized M&Ms

You pick the colors and you pick the messaging – we recommend putting your child’s name on the candy as there is limited space. Your kids will love how cool these personalized M&Ms are.

Candy-filled eggs

Buy some of those plastic pastel-colored eggs and fill ‘em to the brim with Easter candy. Try using mini-chocolate eggs, jelly beans, mini-varieties of things like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups or candy bars, or you could even stick some dollar bills in there!

Marshmallow Peeps

What would an Easter basket be without Marshmallow Peeps? Put a package in the basket; the little ones love marshmallows, especially colored ones shaped like bunnies and ducks!

Dyed eggs

If your family dyes Easter eggs, don’t forget to include some of the finished product in the child’s Easter basket.

A Stuffed Animal

Don’t forget to include a small Easter stuffed animal, whether it be a stuffed duck or bunny, or a new Beanie Baby. This doesn’t apply to boys of a certain age, so for them, go with some other small gift or token.

A Kids Easter Card

Send a little love their way by including a customized printable kids Easter card in the basket. A little note of love goes a long way…

Coloring Pages, Activity Sheets

This will give them something to do while you’re preparing for the Easter feast or waiting for dinner at Grandma’s house. Easter coloring sheets and activity sheets from AmericanGreetings.com are a perfect way to keep little minds busy. Don’t forget the new crayons or colored pencils!

An Easter craft

Kids love craft-making so why not include a little something in the Easter basket? Don’t make it too complicated. There’s plenty of simple kids Easter crafts at FamilyFun.

8 Examples Of How Children?S Gifts Have Improved Over The Last 30 Years

Now that the quality and choice that we are offered far exceeds anything that we have been offered before, combined with our new ways of shopping, buying a quality children’s gift couldn’t be easier or more rewarding.

1. Internet and Mail Order Shopping.  The way we shop has changed; this has made a great deal more children’s gifts available to anyone and everyone, regardless of where you live.  You can even register your children’s birthdays on many web sites, to receive recommended gift lists for the right age group.  (This is a really useful service if you do not have your own children, but buy for nieces and nephews or God children, and you are not sure what to get).

2. Bedroom Accessories.  We now have a gorgeous selection of Children’s bedroom accessories, lots of which make fabulous gifts for boys and girls.  Particularly good bedroom gift ideas are Nursery Night Lamps, Kids Bean Bags, Children’s Cushions and Kids Memo Boards.

3. Quality Wooden Toys.  Often inspired by toys of  a bygone age, quality wooden toys, with age recommendation and made from replenishable wood, ensuring the future of wooden toys survives.  Also, as an added bonus, wood is usually a lot easier to glue than plastic, if the toy is accidentally broken.   Fabulous wooden toys that you can find now include Wooden Train Tracks, Wooden Play Food and Wooden Cars.

4. Personalised Gifts.  As technology has improved so has the ability to personalise gifts.  Personalisation of a gift could mean: engraving a kid’s silver money box, embroidering a personalised cushion, appliquéing a kids apron or printing a personalised clock.   These have become very popular over the last 30 years as the giving of a personalised children’s gift is a very special and rewarding experience.

5. Practical Gifts.  Over the years more and more effort has been put into designing practical gifts for children.  Items like Kid’s lunch boxes, kid’s drinks bottles, children’s towels and kid’s duvet covers, are now available in so many gorgeous designs, that  no child would be disappointed to receive a lovely looking practical gift.

6. Children’s Crafts. In the 70’s and 80’s we did have fabulous craft books, but these relied on you having all the bits and bobs in the first place.  Now we have great little craft kits, like sewing, knitting or building kits that have everything you need to make the finished product.

7. Dressing Up Clothes.  What a fabulous array of Dressing Up Clothes we have available today!  Gone are the days when the only option was to dress up in Granny’s old cast offs.  Now on offer to all is a wonderful fairytale selection of Knight, Monster and Pirate Costumes, Fairy, Princess and Animal Fancy Dress, all making brilliant children’s gifts.

8. Sleepover Gifts.  I am not even sure that children had sleepover in the 70’s and 80’s, I certainly didn’t!  However now it is common practice for children to regularly have and go on sleepover parties.  This does of course give us an extra opportunity for giving a gift that is practical, but will ensure some fabulous sleepovers with friends.  Great sleepover gifts could include, Sleepover blankets, Snuggle Sacs, Kit Bags and Kids Wash Bags.

I hope this list has given you some inspiration, along with a bit of nostalgia for your own childhood!

Work Your Home Business Along With Your Children?s Schedules

For a lot of people finding time to work their home based business is hard thing to do. However, for men and women who have young children in the house, finding time for your business can be even harder, but it doesn’t need to be impossible.

Work your business in the “nooks and crannies” of your life. It is amazing how much you can accomplish this way. Here are a five good ways to find the time.

1) Naptime

Even if your kids don’t nap for long, it will still give you some child-free time to make calls, market online, answer emails and the like. Sometimes all you need is 15 or 20 minutes to get a good amount of work done. If you have any prospects to call back, this is an excellent time to do that because talking on the phone is usually easier while the kids are not around you.

If you get things ready to go while the kids are awake, when they go to sleep, you can get right to work and get the most out of your time. That means listing the names and numbers of the people you need to call back, or just getting things organized in general.

2) Mommy/Daddy Day

Sending your children to have a special day with just mommy or daddy can be a great way to give the other parent time alone to work on their business. Everyone wins in this situation! Parents LOVE to spend a day with their kids at the park, going to see a movie or hanging out at an amusement park, the kids LOVE it too, and the other parent has time to work without distraction.

Schedule these special trips every couple of weeks and you will have an entire uninterrupted day of work… and that can go REALLY far when you’re trying to build a business!

Even if you and the other parent are not together, you might have set days when you know your children will be scheduled to visit. USE THAT TIME.

3) DVD’s are Your FRIEND

Now I’m not saying to let the T.V. parent your kids. However, there’s nothing wrong with allowing your kids to pick out a fun movie, pop some popcorn and sit them in front of the T.V. from time to time.

Let me say it again, when you are trying to build a business… DVD’s are your FRIEND! Use them! Depending on the age and the attention span of your child, you can have from 30 minutes to an hour and a half of pure uninterrupted work time and that will go a long way.

4) Crafts

Kids LOVE to do arts and crafts. Even children who tend to be a little hyper will usually settle down to make something, especially when they get to use their hands and be creative.

Keep in mind that if you have your kids working in one room that might not be the best time to start making calls, because there will probably be some supervising that needs to take place. However, this is a good time to organize things or perhaps do different kinds of online marketing that you can stop and start at your leisure.

5) Early Bedtimes and Strategic Calling

Depending on what time your kids go to bed and what time zone you live in, bedtime can be a good time to catch up on calls and just get things done in general.

If you live in the Eastern time zone and the children go to bed at 8:00 pm, that’s only 5:00 pm Pacific or 6:00 pm Mountain or 7:00 pm Central… that’s prime calling time for any zone! Start with the latest and do first and work West. Remember when you’re making phone calls, you are not limited to your time zone. If it is too late to make calls in one time zone, you might not be able to call people who live in another.

Of course this rule does go both ways. You will need to be aware of what time it is in other time zones and make sure you’re not calling people where it is 3 hours later! (If it is too late, do other things and make your calls during their nap time the next day.)

Organize yourself well throughout the day and you should have everything ready when the kids go to bed. You will at least have a couple good hours of work time.

I hope that these tips have been helpful in allowing you to find time to work your home based business as much as possible, while still being the BEST mom or dad. Your kids are one of the main reasons you are working your business anyway. The more time you spend in the early stages of your business building your income, the more time you will have free to spend with them for years to come!
